While in prayer my brother felt “called” to be a missionary. He didn’t fully trust his feelings so he put a “fleece” before the Lord (Judges 6:36-40). “Lord,” he prayed, “if You are truly calling me to be a missionary give me so much compassion for lost souls that I can’t stop weeping.” Instantly he was overwhelmed with a burden for the lost. For more than two hours he wept before the Lord and from that day forward he dedicated all of his energies to preparing himself to be a missionary.
“You must go to everyone I send you…Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you…,’ declares the LORD.”
— Jeremiah 1:7-8 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, give us ears to hear Your voice, a heart to receive Your word, a will to obey, and faith to act. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
