The spiritual leader’s counselors must be men of integrity. They must be strong enough to speak the truth in love and wise enough to discern between the wisdom of God and their own opinion. They should also provide an inner circle of spiritual support and protection for the man of God. In truth, almost all of us are our own worst enemy; therefore, every spiritual leader must surround himself with trustworthy people who will protect him from himself.
“He who walks with the wise grows wise,
— Proverbs 13:20
but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Lord Jesus, bring wise and godly people into our lives. May they provide counsel and direction, lest we make foolish mistakes. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
