Apologizing isn’t easy for most of us but if we hope to restore the broken relationship it is mandatory. When apologizing never use the word “but.” Any time you use “but” you make the other person responsible for your actions. If you are sincerely sorry for what you did simply say, “There’s no excuse for what I did. I know I hurt you and I am truly sorry. Please forgive me.” Your apology must never cause the wronged person or those he loves further pain or embarrassment.

“First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”

— Matthew 5:24

Lord Jesus, forgive us. Heal the wounds we have so carelessly inflicted. Restore those we have hurt. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
