Where did the entitlement mindset come from? The “I deserve it, I’m entitled” attitude. Not from the Scriptures. “Go to the ant,” counsels the ancient sage, “…consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest” (Proverbs 6:6-8). From the ant we learn to be self-starters. It doesn’t need to be motivated by another; it has no foreman or supervisor. Although it is tiny, and of primitive intelligence, it still has the good sense to work hard and plan ahead. Because it gathers and stores its provisions in the summer it has plenty when the barrenness of winter comes.
