The sacrifice of praise may not alter our painful circumstances, but it does put them into eternal perspective. Seen through the lens of loss or disappointment, God seems small and far away – it’s like looking at Him through the wrong end of a telescope. Praise reverses the telescope. Now God is very near and greater than all our troubles.
“Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.”
— Psalm 86:6-7 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, teach us to remember all You have done for us and to pray God-centered prayers rather than need-centered prayers. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
