I don’t want to admit it, but I am my own worst enemy. Most of us are. Left to our own desires we will destroy ourselves. We will sacrifice those we love on the altar of ambition. Pride will lead us astray, causing us to compromise our integrity in a misguided attempt to prove ourselves. Well it has been said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
“For whoever wants to save his life will lose it,

but whoever loses his life for me will find it.”
Lord Jesus, teach me to be obedient rather than ambitious. Help me to seek to please only You; not my selfish self or even others, simply You. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
