If you divorced your spouse without having Biblical grounds for divorce you committed sin. Nonetheless I want to assure you that divorce is not the unpardonable sin. To be sure, God hates divorce (see Malachi 2:16), but He loves the divorced person, and He wants to forgive him/her. Thankfully, God’s grace is always greater than our sin. One last thing—the faithful spouse who opposed the divorce and wanted to see the marriage restored has not sinned; rather he/she was sinned against.
“For the Lord, the God of Israel, says he hates divorce and cruel men. Therefore, control your passions—let there be no divorcing of your wives.”
