Throughout the gospels we see a contrast between the deity of Jesus and His humanity. As the Son of man, He was baptized by John in the Jordan River. As the Son of God, He baptized others in the Holy Spirit. As the Son of man, He prayed to the Father. As the Son of God, He heard the prayers of others and forgave their sins. As the Son of man, He wept with Mary following the death of her brother. As the Son of God, He raised Lazarus from the dead. As the Son of man, He died on the cross and was buried. As the Son of God, He conquered death, hell and the grave!
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
— John 1:14 (NIV)
Jesus, thank you for becoming one of us so we might become the sons of God. Amen.
