Think the person who has hurt you the worst. When you have a clear picture of the person who hurt you in unthinkable ways, answer this question: “What have you done to bless that person?”

I’m more than a little embarrassed to tell you I find that question a bit disconcerting. My response to being hurt is a mixed bag at best. With the Lord’s help I have been able to forgive those who have wronged me but beyond that I can’t think of much I have done to bless them. I sense the Lord prompting me to do something more. What about you? Is the Lord asking you to go the second mile and do something to bless those who have hurt you?

“Love your enemies! Do good to them…You must be compassionate, just as your [heavenly] Father is compassionate.”

— Luke 6:35-36 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, do through me what I can never do in my own strength. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
