Jessica had her wallet stolen while grocery shopping. She thought she knew who did it so she confronted him. “You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you and pay for your groceries or I can report you to the police.”
The man handed her wallet to her. Together they went to the checkout where she paid for his few groceries. The last thing he said was, “I’ll never forget tonight. I’m broke, I have kids, I’m embarrassed and I’m sorry.”
Thinking about it now I can almost see Jesus smile with pleasure at the way Jessica handled that situation.
“Don’t repay evil for evil. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do….”
— 1 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I’ve mishandled hurtful situations. In the future help me to be more like Jessica. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
