“Hallowed be your name (Mt. 6:9) is not a petition but a declaration of praise. When we pray this prayer, we are declaring that His name is holy, and we are giving Him praise. Yet in another sense we are asking Him to make His name holy to us. To help us live in such a way that all we do and say hallows His name and brings glory to it.
“God elevated [Jesus] to the place of highest honor
— Philippians 2:9-11 (NLT)
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Lord Jesus may Your name be hallowed now and forever. Amen.
