Joseph overcame slavery and imprisonment because he refused to give up. He could have grown impatient and thrown in the towel when nothing changed year after year, but he didn’t. Instead he encouraged himself by remembering his dreams. He knew he was not destined to languish in prison. He was destined to rule and he knew the Lord would exalt him if he did not faint. So what are you telling yourself as these difficult days stretch out month after endless month? Are you about to give up or are you determined to hang tough until you overcome?

“..He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. …those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”

— Isaiah 40:29, 31 (NIV1984)

Lord Jesus, we are weary and tempted to give up. Strengthen us and renew our hope. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
