When Joseph was just a teenage boy the Lord gave him two dreams regarding his future. In the first dream he and his brothers were binding sheaves in a field and suddenly his sheave stood upright and his brothers sheaves bowed down to it. In the second dream the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to him. His dreams infuriated his brothers and they decided to murder him, but at the last moment they changed their minds and sold him into slavery instead. Then they said to each other, “Now we’ll see what comes of his dreams (Gen. 37:20).

“All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced…Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.”

— Isaiah 41:11-12 (NIV 1984)

Lord Jesus, help us to hold onto our dreams no matter who comes against us. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
