The gift of faith is sovereignly given by the Holy Spirit. It is a special faith, a miracle-working faith. It is not possible for the “measure of faith” we are each given to ever grow into the “gift of faith” any more than a person can give a message in tongues by learning a foreign language. Although the Holy Spirit decides who receives each gift we are encouraged to “Earnestly desire the best gifts” (1 Corinthians 12:31).
May I ask you a question? Are you earnestly desiring the gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Lord Jesus create in us a hunger and thirst for the gifts of the Spirit. Amen.
