The second type of faith identified in the New Testament is the gift of faith. Unlike common faith it is not given to everyone but only to certain people who have been selected by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12 declares, “To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge…to another faith by the same Spirit.” The gift of faith is miracle working faith.
“Who through faith conquered kingdoms…and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.”
