My sister died just a few days before Christmas when I was only nine years old and our grief was terrible. I’m indebted to my parents because during that difficult time they taught me not only to grieve, but to trust God in all the seasons of life including the painful season of grief. And they taught me to believe that even the most unspeakable loss can contribute to our ultimate Christlikeness and can be redeemed and made to hasten the coming of His kingdom in our lives.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.”

— Romans 5:13 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, give hope to those who are walking through a dark place. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
