How, you may be wondering, can a person distinguish between the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the accusations of the enemy? Conviction from the Holy Spirit makes us painfully aware of our sinful failures, but even as it does, it motivates us to confess our sins and try again. Condemnation, on the other hand, tempts us to despair. It tells us that we will never be any different, that God is sick of our repeated failures and ready to wash His hands of us. Embrace the conviction of the Holy Spirit but resist the accusations of the enemy with all your might.
“Hope in the LORD;
— Psalm 10:7 (NLT)
for with the LORD there is unfailing love.
His redemption overflows.”
Lord Jesus, we thank you that Your grace and mercy is always greater than our sin. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
