The fourth group of people the leader must deal with are the VDPs—the very draining people. They tend to be insecure people with a history of rejection. If the leader is a compassionate person, they will be drawn to him. Once he gives them his attention they will want more and more. If he is not careful their neediness will consume him. So what can he do. He must be available to minister to them, but he must also guard himself lest their neediness devour him.

“Then [Jesus] will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'”

— Matthew 25:45 (NKJV)

Lord, help us to minister to all people including the VDPs. Amen.
