It was Passover week and Jerusalem was alive with anticipation. There were people everywhere. The noise was constant—the cries of street vendors hawking their wares, shouted greetings between old friends, the running laughter of children, the bleating of sheep, and the cooing of doves. Add to that the wild cacophony of praise as Jesus descended on the road leading from the Mount of Olives into the Holy City and you have Palm Sunday. Luke described it this way:
“The whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices… ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’”

Lord Jesus fill our hearts with joy and let our praise break forth. Amen.
