When leaders make poor decisions there are consequences for both the leader and those he is leading. Moses’ premature attempt to emancipate the Israelites resulted in forty more years of bondage for them. At forty years of age, he was so convinced that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had called him to deliver them that he was willing to risk everything. When they refused to follow him, he lost faith, not only in God, but in himself as well. He fled to Midian where he married the daughter of a priest and became a shepherd. From a prince in Pharaoh’s place to sheep herder on the backside of the desert. Quite a fall!
“A man’s wisdom gives him patience.”
— Proverbs 19:11 (NIV 1984)
Lord, deliver us from the consequences of our poor decisions. Amen.
