The Psalmist says the Lord prepares a table for us “…in the presence of (our) enemies” (Psalm 23:5). So who are these enemies? They are things like temptation, persecution, adversity, betrayal, prolonged suffering, chronic illness and financial hardship to name just a few. If we are not careful the enemy will use these kinds of things to discourage us. But here’s the good news: the Lord will prepare a table of refreshing in the midst of the severest battle, even when our enemies seem about to devour us.
Maybe you are surrounded by enemies right now and it feels like your strength is almost gone. Don’t give up. God is preparing a table of refreshing for you right now. He will deliver you!
“The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, ‘Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.’ So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.”
— 1 Kings 19:7-8 (NIV)
Lord Jesus sometimes we are so overwhelmed that we can’t seem to find the table You have prepared for us. Send someone to show us the way that we may eat and be strengthened. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
