According to Phillip Keller, parasites often attack the sheep especially around their heads. In extreme cases these parasites can cause death. The good shepherd treats the sheep by anointing their heads with a mixture of olive oil, Sulphur and spices. That’s what David was talking about when he wrote, “You anoint my head with oil” (Psalm 23:5 NIV). Now lets apply this truth to our own lives. The enemy comes against us by attacking our minds. He tries to poison our thinking, filling our minds with unclean thoughts, doubts and fear. The Bible calls this carnal thinking, and it produces death. There is only one cure for carnal thinking—the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which renews our mind. Romans 8:6 declares,
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Lord Jesus, anoint our minds with the mighty power of the Holy Spirit that we might live a transformed life. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
