When I think of friendship Jonathan and David immediately come to mind. After meditating on their relationship for several days, I’m convinced that there are several things we can learn from them, things that will enable us to build better friendships. First true friendship requires chemistry. Your personalities have to “click”. Secondly true friendship requires commitment. Thirdly true friendship requires vulnerability and transparency. In the coming days we will examine these principles one at a time.

“Jonathan said, ‘…GOD will be the bond between me and you, and between my children and your children forever!’”

–1 Samuel 20:42 (MSG)

Lord Jesus, help me be the kind of friend who is willing to seek his friend’s good over his own. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
