I don’t suppose any of us will ever be completely free of the personal ambition that taints our holiest desire to be used by God. Indeed, if absolutely pure motives were a prerequisite for service in the Kingdom, we would all be disqualified. Still, spiritual integrity demands that we constantly search our hearts before the Lord and honestly confess our fleshly motives. Only as we practice this holy discipline can we be assured of keeping our unholy ambitions in check.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves…”
— Philippians 2:3 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, help me to truly walk humbly before you and to put the needs of others above my own. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
