Another reason you may be having trouble forgiving those who have wronged you is because you don’t want to be hurt again. If that’s the case, you may be confusing forgiveness and trust. Forgiving others should be given freely, but your trust must be earned. Just because you forgive someone doesn’t mean you trust them; nor does it mean you have to put yourself in a position where they can hurt you again.

Lord Jesus help us to be generous in forgiving others, and to let go of every offense. Protect us and teach us to be cautious in all our relationships lest we take unnecessary risks. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
