The hardest thing the Lord may ever ask you to do is wait. Joseph had to wait at least thirteen years before his dreams were fulfilled. The waiting years were filled with suffering and hardship. His brothers sold him into slavery. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him. He was unjustly imprisoned, but none of that kept the Lord from fulfilling His purpose in Joseph’s life. In a single day he went from a prisoner to the second most powerful man in Egypt!
“Joseph’s master took him and threw him into the jail…But there in jail God was still with Joseph…whatever he did God made sure it worked out for the best.”
— Genesis 39:19-23 (MSG)
Lord, help us not to waste our “waiting years.” Use them to prepare us for the task before us. Amen.
