The soil in which you plant your seed is critical. That’s the second law of the harvest. If you plant your seed in fertile soil your will reap a harvest but if you plant in poor soil, you won’t. Jesus explained it this way: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed… some [seed] fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil…Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown” (see Matthew 13:3-8). Take a hard look at your stewardship. Are you investing your resources wisely or are you giving indiscriminately?

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

— 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, direct our giving. Cause us to plant in ministries that produce good fruit for the Kingdom. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
