Grace is multifaceted. It is first and foremost God’s unmerited favor. It is unearned and undeserved. Ephesians 2:8 and 9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” God’s grace is also a source of unlimited power enabling us to overcome any obstacle. Although the Lord did not remove Paul’s thorn in the flesh, He gave him grace to prevail. Jesus told him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul’s response,
“Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power (grace) of Christ may rest upon me”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Lord give us the grace we need. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
