Few things in life are more important than the friends we choose. Hall of Famer Micky Mantle is a case in point. When he joined the Yankees as a raw rookie, he became friends with Whitey Ford and Billy Martin, two hard drinking party animals. As a result, he adopted their lifestyle. He became an alcoholic and died of liver failure. How different his life might have been if he had become friends with Bobby Richardson, a Christian and a teetotaler.
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. But they delight in God and are thinking about ways to follow him more closely.”
— Psalm 1:1-2 (Living Bible)
Lord, help us to choose godly friends. Amen.
