Do you struggle with a besetting sin? If so, you are probably tempted to berate yourself. You may even be tempted to think you will never be any different, that God is ready to wash His hands of you. Those kinds of “carnal” thoughts lead to despair. Before long you may even be tempted to give up, to simply forsake your faith. Replace your guilty thoughts with the truth of scripture. Psalm 32:5 says, “I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
“Blessed is the one
— Psalms 32:1-2 (NIV)
whose transgressions are forgiven… Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them.”
Thank you, Lord, for setting us free from sin and guilt. Amen.
