I am profoundly grieved when I see friends and loved ones battling depression or filled with fear and anxiety. I’m sure you are grieved as well, so what can we do? We can pray! James declares that “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16 NKJV). And Paul tells us that when we pray God can “do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV). When you pray invite “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, [to] guard [their] hearts and [their] minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
— Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
Lord hold us close to Your heart replacing fear with peace. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
