The abiding presence of God is always with us whether we sense it or not (see Matthew 28:20). At other times His presence manifests itself in undeniable ways. For instance, when Solomon prayed the dedicatory prayer over the Temple, “Fire came down from heaven and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it” (2 Chronicles 7:1-2). The abiding presence of the Lord strengthens and sustains us. The manifest presence of the Lord overwhelms and empowers us.
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
— Exodus 33:14 (NIV 1984)
Lord may we experience both Your abiding presence and Your manifest presence. Amen.
