If all we knew about God was Psalm 23:1—“The Lord is my shepherd”—then we would conclude that God is a shepherd. True enough, but it’s incomplete. He is a shepherd, but He is so much more. If the parable of the prodigal son (Lu. 15:11-31) was the only revelation we had of God we would conclude that He is a heart broken father pining over His wayward son. True enough, but that’s not the whole picture either. To see God as He really is we must consider everything the Scriptures reveal about Him.
