When you are dealing with a sinful failure it is critical to differentiate between the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the condemnation of the enemy. Second Corinthians 7:10 says, “Godly sorrow [conviction] brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow [condemnation] brings death.” Holy Spirit conviction makes us painfully aware of our sinfulness, but even as it does, we are motivated to confess our sins and try again. Condemnation drives us to despair. It tells us God is sick of our repeated failures and ready to wash His hands of us.

or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation.”
Lord do Your holy sanctifying work in us. Amen.
