Disappointment tempts us to doubt the character of God. Like an underground stream, silently cutting its way through the subterranean strata, it erodes our confidence in the Lord. So slowly, so silently, does it wear on us that we will likely not even be aware of it. Then one day we awake to discover that we no longer trust God. Somewhere among the long days of pain and disappointment we have lost our faith in His goodness. We still trust Him for our salvation, but we are no longer confident that He will take care of us.
“Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us…”
— 2 Timothy 2:13 (TLB)
Lord, thank You for remaining faithful even when our faith fails. Amen.
