A friend of mine bought a set of bunk beds for his three boys. They were nearly ecstatic with excitement as they watch him assembly them and they could hardly wait for bedtime. The oldest boy chose the top bunk and started up the ladder. About halfway up he froze. He was afraid to go any higher. Nothing his father said seemed to help but finally he took a deep breath and flung himself up the ladder and into bed. Turning to his father he said, “I’m still afraid but I’m more excited than afraid.”
That’s the key isn’t it. We may be afraid, but we must choose obedience over fear.
“Do not be afraid; for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
— Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
Lord help us to choose obedience over fear. Amen.
