In the play “The Rain Maker,” Lizzie, the daughter, says, “Some nights I am in the kitchen washing dishes, and Pop is playing poker with the boys. Well, I watch him real close, and at first, I’ll just see an ordinary, middle-aged man. And then, minute by minute, I’ll see little things I never saw before—good things and bad things, little habits I never noticed he had, ways of talking I’d never paid any mind to. Suddenly I know who he is, and I love him so much I could cry, and I thank God I took time to see him real.”

“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me?”

— John 14:9 (KJV)

Lord help us to take time to know You. Amen.
