Have you wounded a trusted friend or colleague? Do you even now grieve over the spiritual or emotional harm you caused them? Regret is not enough. Reconciliation requires something more. Have you sought their forgiveness? Have you made restitution? While God does not require us to make restitution in order to receive salvation, our long-term spiritual and emotional wholeness may very well depend upon it.
“If…your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”
— Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, help us to do everything in our power to heal the hurts and repair the damage we have done in order to restore the broken relationships in our lives. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
