As a young pastor I spent several afternoons with a wonderful old woman named Pearl Anderson who was dying of stomach cancer. I sit with her at the kitchen table in the ranch house, drinking coffee while she told me how she and her husband had homesteaded the place. From her I learned the ministry of presence, the power of just being there, and the holy art of living until we die. A few weeks later she died in her own bed late one afternoon with a smile on her lips seeing something no one else could see.
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
— John 14:2-3 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus thank You for the promise of eternal life. Amen.
