What Jacob experienced the night that he wrestled with God, in the dark, on the muddy bank of the Jabbok, was true prayer – life-changing prayer. We used to have prayer meetings like that. We called it, “praying through,” which meant that we weren’t leaving the place of prayer until God had touched us, cleansed us, made us new! Like Jacob, we determined, “…‘I will not let you go unless you bless me’” (Genesis 32:26).
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
— Luke 18:1 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, make our prayers passionate. Empower us to pray with tears and fervent cries and never give up, even as we submit to Your will. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
