Rather than jealously hoarding his authority, Moses invested it in others, preparing them for leadership. Foremost among those he trained was a young man named Joshua. For nearly forty years he poured himself into Joshua. As the end of Moses’s life drew near, he laid his hands on Joshua, transferring his authority to him and publicly commissioning him to lead the people (see Numbers 27:18–20).
Who are you preparing to assume your spiritual responsibilities? What will happen when you are gone?
