We do not remember David as an adulterer and a murderer, but as a man after God’s own heart. Why is that? Because no matter how grievously he sinned, he knew how to find forgiveness. He never blamed anyone but himself. And because he took responsibility for his sin, God was able to forgive and restore him.
“Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”
— Psalm 32:1
Lord Jesus, hear our confession and forgive our sins. Make us truly men and women who, like David, have a heart for God. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
