When we fall into sin, the enemy of our souls tries to convince us that God is ready to wash His hands of us, but that isn’t true. Instead, we become the objects of His special loving attention. Like the good shepherd, Jesus leaves the ninety-nine and goes into the wasteland of sin searching for us. He doesn’t give up when it gets dark or a storm blows up or it becomes dangerous or seems hopeless. No! He keeps searching until He finds us.

“And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’”

— Luke 15:5, 6

Lord Jesus, thank You for never giving up on us no matter how far we may wonder or how great our sin. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
