Some of us resist the Spirit’s transforming power because we see God as a schoolteacher with a giant eraser. We fear that if we surrender to Him, He will erase our individuality and turn us into some kind of Christian clone. May I suggest another possibility? Maybe instead of thinking of God as a schoolteacher with a giant eraser, we should think of Him as an artist—a watercolor artist. Is it possible that He wants to finish what He started when He created us in His very own image? Maybe He wants to make each of us into a unique masterpiece reflecting His glory.
“God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished.”
— Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
Lord cover the canvas of our lives with Your very own image. Amen.
