Did you know that Jesus spent more time talking about money than any other single topic? In the Gospels one out of every ten verses—288 in all—deal with money. Sixteen of our Lord’s thirty-eight parables address the same issue. The Bible offers approximately five hundred verses on prayer, less than five hundred verses on faith, but more than two thousand verses about money and possessions.
Why do you suppose He did that? Could it be because He knows how easy it is to fall in love with money?
“Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
— 1 Timothy. 6:10 (NIV)
Lord, help us not to put our hope in money but in You alone. Amen.
