When the apostle Paul writes in Philippians 2 that Jesus emptied Himself to become fully human, he is not saying Jesus emptied Himself of His divine nature. Rather, as the Phillips Modern English translation states, He “…stripped himself of every advantage….” (Philippians 2:7). He was still divine, but He freely choose to live life as a man to fully identify with our human condition and fulfill the righteous requirements of the Father’s holy law.

“His state was divine, yet he did not cling to his equality with God but emptied himself to assume the condition of a slave and became as men are; and being as all men are, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.”

— Philippians 2:6-8 (Jerusalem Bible)

Jesus we are in awe of Your holy love and we worship You. Amen.
