The convicting work of the Holy Spirit is always specific. When He convicts us of sin, He puts His finger on it and identifies it so we can confess it and be forgiven.

Condemnation leaves us feeling guilty, but unable to identify a specific reason for our guilt. It does not identify a particular sin, lest we confess it and be delivered. The only time condemnation is specific is when the accuser condemns us of sins we’ve already confessed.

That’s not the conviction of the Holy Spirit so reject it. When God forgives our sins, He is done with them; He never brings them up again!

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us”

— Psalm 103:12

Lord, hear our confession and forgive our sins. Amen.
