Every Bible character has a life lesson to teach us. Generally we study their successes to glean insights in order to become the person God has called us to be. That’s well and good, but I think we do ourselves a disservice if we don’t consider their failures as well. For instance there is much to be gleaned from the mistakes Moses made, especially early on. His first attempt to deliver the Israelites failed miserably because he did absolutely nothing to prepare them to follow his leadership.
“Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not.”
— Acts 7:25 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, help us to learn from Moses’ mistake. Give us the patience to prepare those we hope to lead. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
