If you’ve been betrayed let me ask you how you feel when you think of interacting with the person who betrayed you? Do you see it as an opportunity to put the past behind you? Do you see it as an opportunity to restore broken relationships? Or do you feel uneasy, hurt, resentful, bitter, or even angry? If you feel any of those negative emotions or something similar it may mean you have not completely forgiven those who hurt you. You probably still have some work to do.
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
— Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
Lord I want to forgive those who have wounded me, but I’m stuck. I can’t seem to let go of the hurt and anger. Help me to forgive them as freely as you have forgiven me. Amen.
