After a misspent adolescence, John Welsh was converted, became a minister, and married Elizabeth, a daughter of John Knox. He was persecuted for his faith and King James VI ordered his arrest and imprisonment. He fled to France where he continued his ministry. He begged his congregation, “Pray for your pastor; pray for his body that he may be kept strong and spared many years. Pray for his soul that he may be kept humble and holy, a burning and shining light.”

Have you prayed for your pastor today?

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message…Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.”

— Colossians 4:3-4 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, Grant my pastor wisdom and favor that he may be ever more effective in the work of the ministry. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
